Maria Bieșu International Opera and Ballet Festival inaugurated

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- The XXIX edition of the International Opera and Ballet Festival Maria Biesu, which will take place in Chisinau on September 5-26, was inaugurated yesterday, inside the National Opera, with “Traviata”, opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi, conductor – Andriy Yurkevych.


Opening the festival, Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan said that this is not only a tribute to the one who was the best “Cio-Cio-san”, but also an event that places us on the European cultural map, it brings us back to the world artistic circuit.

 Prodan said that last night’s show impressed him a lot.


The 28th edition of the Maria Bieșu International Opera and Ballet Festival took place online, and the opening – in the open air, at the Mimi Castle and the closing – in the square of the National Opera.

This year’s edition is organized by the Ministry of Culture, the National Opera and Ballet Theater Maria Biesu and other institutions.
